A day trip to Kathmandu departs from Swayambhunath Stupa, also referred to as the Monkey Temple. According to legend, Swayambhu was born from a lotus bloom that grew among a lake that previously covered the Kathmandu valley. The largest statue of the Sakyamuni Buddha in Nepal is perched on a pedestal at Swayambhu’s western edge. A temple dedicated to Manjusri or Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge, is located below the ridge. The Swayambhunath stupa complex is filled with chaityas, monuments, and sacred sites for Buddhist and Hindu deities. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Nepal.
After that, the Kathmandu day trip visits the durbar square. One of the primary attractions in the Kathmandu valley is the Kathmandu Durbar Square, which is sometimes referred to as Hanuman Dhoka Square or Basantapur. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Hanuman statue King Pratap Malla erected at the entrance to the royal home in 1672 A.D. is when the term Hanuman Dhoka Durbar first appeared. The Durbar square has a number of temples, shrines, courtyards, and palaces that showcase medieval art and architecture.
Bouddhanath Stupa was the next stop on the Kathmandu day trip. One of the most impressive tourist destinations in Kathmandu is Boudhanath, which is situated 8 kilometers east of the city center. One of the largest stupas in South Asia is Boudhanath’s 36-meter-tall structure. The center of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal, Boudhanath is surrounded by several religious groups. Another UNESCO cultural heritage site is Bouddhanath Stupa.
