Trip Overview

The first cable car service in Nepal was created by Manakamana Cable Car. The construction of the cable car in 1998 reduced the arduous 3- to 4-hour hike to the peak for visitors to the Hindu temple Manakamana Temple to a leisurely 10-minute journey.

Manakamana Temple is a Hindu temple devoted to Goddess Bhagwati that is situated in the Gorkha neighborhood. Thousands of worshippers travel to the Manakamana temple every day in the hope that the Goddess Bhagwati would fulfill their requests. Although the place is visited year-round by visitors, Dashain (Sep.–Oct.) and Nag Panchami draw particularly large crowds (July-Aug).

From Kurintar, located 5 kilometers to the east of Mugling, you may take the Manakamana Cable Car. The cable car journey travels 2.8 kilometres in about 10 minutes and is available from 9 am to 5 pm. Manakamana has six-person capacity per cable vehicle. The spectacular views of Annapurna II, Lamjung Himal, and Baudha Himal are one of the highlights of the Manakamana trip, in addition to the Hindu shrine. There are stores offering too-cute-to-handle unique handicrafts and gifts all around the Manakamana shrine.

Trip Highlight

  • magnificent views of the highlands and Trishuli River from the cable car
  • beautiful views of Baudha Himal, Lamjung, and Annapurna local stores that sell distinctive mementos
  • Manakamana, a Hindu temple, is situated on a hill.
