Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Kathmandu to Bisisahar by jeep (ovenight) (5-6 days)

A bombed-out Bus service operates between Besisahar and Bahulbhule when sufficient customers have waited patiently. If you want a jeep further along the new dirt road, you need to arrange it in Besisahar, because they do not normally pick-up trekkers in the route.

  • Day 2 : Besisahar to Dharapani to Danakyu (by jeep) (ovenight) (5 hrs)

Continuing on from kharte the trail is pleasant but not taxing to Dharpani (1960m). The forbidding canyon to the northeast of Dharapani leads to Binthang on the Manasalu Trek. Also here is Thonje, with small monastery housing an impressive image of Sakaymuni Buddha.

  • Day 3 : Danakya to Chame to Dhukure Pokhari (by jeep) (overnight) (5 hrs)

Continuing to climb, the route passes through lowest Danakyu and finally upper Danakyu (2300m, all with enticing lodgings. There are good views east towards Manasau North and the ramparts of Phungi Himal. Just 30 min further in is Chame (2670m) the regional headquarter.

Today the altitude may intrude as the route climbs through more intoxicating pipe-secented forest. Only the bubbling flow turquoise climb too fast the effect of altitude will Kick in today.

  • Day 4 : Dhukure Pokhari to pisang, Humde, Manang (by jeep) (ovenight) (5 hrs)

Dhukure Pokhari (3185m) is a pleasant tea shop before reaching lower pisang village (3200m)

Clinging spectacular to the hillside below pisang peakis upper pisang (3300m). This stunning Mediaeval sight, with a picture sque monastery, is stuff of Himalayan dreams.

  • Day 5 : Manang to Churi Latar (overnight) (4 hrs)

From Braka to Manang is a short hike, passing chortens and craggy outcrops.

Soon is the welcome kani of Manang (3540m). It’s ancient stone and wood house, shelter about 200m peoples, all year around. There are cozy lodges, unlike when Herzg’s. Annapurna Climbing group came in 1950. Then they could hardly find shelter or procure any food. Manang has a clinic for trekkers (and locals) operated by the Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) during the trekking season. They give an informative talk about altitude sickness each day at 3:00 pm. The ACAP tourist center is also worth a visit.

  • Day 6 : Churi lattar to Phedi (overnight)(4 hrs)

It’s a relatively leisurely stroall, but the toll of high altitude begins to bite before Thorang Phedi. Don’t oversleep. In high season bed space in pedhi occasionaly becomes critical there’s always the floor, the courtyards .

High still is churi lattar (4200m), sitting serenely below Chulu west, with sensational sunsets.

  • Day 7 : Phedi- Thorang pass- Muktinath (overnight) (8 hrs)

This is the big day. A part from the toilets and weather, the usual topic of conservation revolves around the department time the next morning. Unless you have experienced high altitude before, nothing can prepare you for its effects. And after all that all and trouble descent. But it’s this why we all come to the Himalayas?

  • Day 8 : Muktinath to Jomson (By jeep) (overnight) (2 hrs)

This day is relaxing, down from muktinath through dry countryside to the former trading route of the wind west kali Gandaki valley. Jeeps to Jomson depart at intervals. Hiring a whole jeep is possible (well, as ‘hole’as a Neplease jeep can be!) The new jeep road keeps its distance from the trails.

  • Day 9 : Jomson to Pokhara (by flight)

    Pokhara back to Kathmandu
